Eindhoven is growing fast. More and more people are coming to the city and region to work here. This is nothing new, as Eindhoven has always developed rapidly. You can see this in famous places like the Lichttoren, the Evoluon and neighbourhoods like Philipsdorp, Drents Dorp and Witte Dorp.

Since the 1990s, companies, the government and knowledge institutions have been working together ever more closely. We now call this Brainport Eindhoven. It is one of the most important economic areas in the Netherlands.

A new phase

Growth means more work and prosperity, but also puts pressure on housing, traffic and amenities. And there are major sustainability and societal challenges. That is why we are embarking on a new phase. We want to look further ahead and think about the future of Eindhoven. What kind of city do we want to live in later? The future is difficult to predict.

'The Eindhoven of the Future' is an initiative of the municipality of Eindhoven. Dozens of organisations in the city have joined in. With all kinds of activities, they are calling on everyone to participate. Together, we sketch the future of Eindhoven.

Draft your future here

What should definitely stay? Where does Eindhoven's strength lie? What are we proud of? What do we really not want to lose?

What would we like to improve? Which feature of the city could be more prominent?

What do we want to add? What are we missing in Eindhoven? What do we need , to be even more of 'that great city'?

This is how we further colour The Eindhoven of the Future.

  1. Until the summer, there will be plenty of sketching about the future. You will find an overview of all activities organised for this purpose on this website.
  2. After the summer, all the ideas will be made into a list of goals we want to achieve in the future: what should stay, what we want to improve and what we can innovate in Eindhoven?
  3. We submit this list of new goals to the people of Eindhoven. They will choose what the most important goals for the city will be. This will take place both online and in real places in the city.

At the end of 2025, these goals will be presented to the city council.
